I can’t believe I’ve avoided this manga for as long as I have. When I first saw the main character as a header on Hung’s blog I instantly realized I wanted more. That one picture was somehow just overflowing with energy and life and stuck with me. As I didn’t recognize it from any anime I thought it was just some art someone made and a bit disappointed I put it in the back of my mind.

Manga Weekly: Sekirei 66, Psyren 27, Beauty Pop 38, Love Monster 82, and Vampire Knight 41

Gasp!

Three shoujo titles, one seinen, and only one shounen series on my list this week. How odd. As tempting to include both Bleach and One Piece, I have but minor comments for the pair. All I can say about the former, the old dude sure can kick some ass. As for OP, it’s a shame to end a fun triumvirate.

Going back to the titles this week: Minato adds to his harem in Sekirei; Psyren introduces Hyodou Kagetora; Latest scans for Beauty Pop is released, along with the final chapter of Love Monster; and Vampire Knight sinks into further strange territory.

More after the jump.

That’s a Thorax from Eve. I’m sure of it!

I usually don’t feel the need to go out and trash shows I don’t like. Most of the time I just stop watching and never think of them again but Macross Frontier has offended my senses in such ways that I feel I have to vent for a bit. Hell, I owe it to any show that manages to disgust me this much to atleast say something about it.

Oh, L-chan. Thank you muchly for the heads up. You have brighten my drab day.

Manga artist Suzue Miuchi will relaunch her long-running Glass no Kamen (The Glass Mask) theatrical romance epic in Hakusensha’s Bessatsu Hana to Yume magazine in its September issue (on sale on July 26). The manga had previously run in the main Hana to Yume magazine, but the 42nd and last compiled volume of the manga was published back in 2004. Bessatsu Hana to Yume’s advertisement says that the story will pick up where volume 42 left off and will still feature the rising stage actress Maya Kitajima and her suitors Yū Sakurakōji and Masumi Hayami.

And so the uber-romance between purple rose dude and the Crimson Goddess protégé continues.

I haven’t been watching a lot of anime lately because I’ve been quite bored with the spring season that has only offered one or two shows that I felt was more than mediocre. Luckily for me TJ Han has been propagandizing about a show called Gintama at every opportunity for as long as I can remember and it came to my mind one especially boring day.

Manga Weekly: Bleach -92, School Rumble 278, One Piece 504, xxxHolic 158, Akuma to Love Song

Aside from the gasp-inducing-thank-gawd-it-finally-ended Inuyasha, it was a slow week for Manga Weekly. Bleach swings back to present day chaos; School Rumble still delves into strange ground; One Piece throws another revelation; xxxHolic voices a curious remark.

Since it’s a slow week, let me introduce a series called Akuma to Love Song. Serenus Dreamer and Starry Heaven release a new scan this week.

Edit: Seems like BECK is officially over.  I suppose the 100th chapter was the finale.  I have to confirm sources though.

Natsukashii~ ED Themes in Anime

So I’ve just recently finished Aria the Origination and the thing that disappointed me the most was the ending theme song. Not only was it NOT by Round Table feat. Nino, it was abrupt and in your face unlike The Natural’s. But the point of this post is not Origination, it is about ED themes in general.

I usually dont watch/listen to the full ED themes much, even if I really like ’em and despite the fact that they’re only 1:30 long or so. In the cases where I do like the ED song, I’d listen to them a few times, and look forward to when the single comes out so I can grab it -eg: Soul Eater’s I Wanna Be by Stance Punks-. Usually when I reach the ED theme, I just close the window and go on to the next show or whatever I’m doing.

Sometimes though, the ED can really hit you hard, but in the good way. The “My goodness. Natsukashii~. I love this song” way.

Author on Narutards

This guy is so popular, getting his picture used twice in a row

Firstly, this is a tribute of sorts to Author as once again, I’ll try to imitate his way of posting. You know the phrase “Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery”. Yeah, this is it. Of course, to his credit, I will be nowhere as efficient as him. He is just too good at these kinds of things. Plus, I want to clear the air on this matter. Anywho, on with this post.

In my latest post, I seem to have struck a chord with Author.

I liked the classic Naruto. And seeing the ridiculous hate makes me want to wear a headband, just to piss off those who think they are better than me. My favourite tee is “Imagine: no liberals :-)”, for the same reason.

Now Author is jumping the gun a bit here. He is assuming that I am calling all Naruto fans “Narutards” and I look down on them. Not necessarily true on two fronts: I admitted many times that I have this elitist streak in me. Unless I can visibly see that I am inferior to them in terms of ani-knowledge, # shows seen, # of manga read, etc etc, then I will continue to assume that I am “better” -of course this only applies to real life. There are so many freaks on the interweb, I dare not make this assumption here. Look at the blogosphere. I pale in comparison to many-.

NO! KNOW YOUR PLACE.

I was killing time at my local Borders a month or so ago-read: reading their stuff for free- and I decided to pick up an issue of Anime Insider. Before anime blogs, I would always read Anime Insider because NewType was always shinkwrapped and well, there were no other magazines. I even had a subscription at one point. But the more I got into anime blogs for my latest news, the more I looked down on ani-mags.

But… it can still have its perks. It was thanks to A.I. that I found out the Honey and Clover manga was coming out for example, and there are some interesting articles every once in a while. In this issue that I picked up, I read some interesting fan-letters. This one in particular, was trying to stick up for fellow Narutards.
