Vampire Knight #01

Yes, I realize that I am ten steps behind everyone else in the blogosphere who has already had the opportunity of blogging this series, and no, I don’t think my posts will be enlightening in the least. It’s just that I had every intention of sharing my thoughts on this episode when it first aired, but because of my inability to think during my unconscious hours at home while I was in school, I just didn’t have the energy to do anything except to doze off to sleep and vegetate in front of the screen. Mind you, I lack the eloquent writing skills of my fellow co-blogger, but I’ll try my best to compensate for my lack in just about everything with…uh, something that might satisfy. Then again, probably not. Read on, if you please…

Oh, and apologies in advance if I sound whiny in this post. I promise I’ll try to avoid it next time you find me writing here.

I have to agree that I was a little disappointed with this episode as well. Honestly, if the manga were as silly as some of these scenes were, I would’ve dropped it and wouldn’t have continued reading. Is this what makes a show successful? Is it profitable to dumb down the storyline? I am one of the biggest VK fans and I was literally obsessed with this manga way back when, so I was just as dismayed as everyone else to see a less than stellar adaptation of one of my favorite manga titles.

Now, I’m not saying that all of it was bad. I did enjoy the episode overall, but I was just hoping for a little more. Perhaps the original storyline was too dark and needed to be toned down with a little humor to relieve the tension? Why not keep it really dark, though? Don’t they realize that fans enjoy the edgy storyline and its characters because of its dark, romantic, and sexy undertones? What I loved about NANA was that it didn’t change the storyline at all and remained as gloomy as its written counterpart. Those who chose to avoid the angst inevitably avoided the anime altogether. I wanted to experience the suspense and sexual tension that I encountered while reading Vampire Knight. I felt that Zero wasn’t anti-social enough, and Kaname wasn’t sexy enough. I imagined him having an arousing and sexy voice…but I suppose that beggars can’t be choosy. I thought it was a nice touch to show Zero with the blood tablets though, and I can’t wait to watch the scene in which he grabs Yuuki from behind and has his way with her. Anyway, I truly am glad that there is an animated adaptation in existence that we can all gripe discuss, so who am I to complain? Even with its flaws, I still plan to watch (and blog) this series all the way to its final episode.

Thanks for reading. Now, onto the second episode…

I can’t stand Vampire Knight because of its images, plus animation, plus it’s just … lame …

I can’t remember ever having heard an arousing and sexy voice in an anime, I’m not even sure if I ever have in a movie. Maybe that really is too much to ask? XD

On a side note, the latent erotic aspect of Vampire Knight has always drawn me to it, but when I started reading the manga back in the day it just came out, I was pushed away by the storyline (that I found messy then). Maybe I should give the manga a second chance.
