Manga Weekly: Shonen ‘R Us
I love my shoujo manga, but I also love my weekly shonen series. Perhaps an inner caveman resides within me.
More manga weekly, after the jump.
School Rumble c.273
Snorts and giggles are the usual reactions to manga chapters of SR. Yet the latest release traveled to a strange territory and shocking (gasp!) plot twist, resulting to welled up tears and to ending of worlds.
A pj’d Karasuma, with his trademark non-expression on, gazes out of the window from his hospital room. A somber Tenma intrudes the sanctuary, and she reveals (to the audience, anyway) awesomeness. The result is a declaration of love, angst, and more jaw-dropping awesomeness. Better yet, this all came from Karasuma, who, as it turns out, is NOT a robot! He has tear ducts and shit. Again, awesome.
How far will Kobayashi take the emo? Or is the circumstance not as fatal as it suggests? Maybe, a fake out?
Eyeshield c.281
Early Christmas invades the sumer heat. Christmas Bowl is here. The country’s best football players gather on hallowed grounds. Team Deimons fight for the top spot.
The chapter ‘merely’ sets up the main event. Flashbacks and introductions are made, nothing pivotal. Still, I had jitters. Excitement is building up, and I can’t wait til the big finish.
As much as enjoy Eyeshield, I’ll be stepping away for a few chapters and let them build up for a lengthy read. I practice this often with other series as well.
Inuyasha c.553
I cannot claim to have had read all available chapters of Kagome&co’s exploits. I used to be completely enamoured, until it became stale. I’d read a chapter here and there just to touch base, but never religiously followed it again. That is, until the announcement of Takahashi’s decision of setting up the finale for the series. Since then, I’ve been a weekly reader. How can you ignore the begining of the end?
After a long, long, long, very long journey, Naraku, wait for it… is dead. People should be rejoicing right now. Instead, the Shikon no Tama goes AWOL, a black holes sucks in Kagome, and the well linking the past and future vanishes. Of course, Inuyasha, because he lurvs Kagome, follows her by using his Tessaiga.
I like this feeling of excitement. It has been a while since I looked at Inuyasha with fresh eyes.
Naruto c.400
Ah. Another series I haven’t followed regularly. But whispers about Itachi’s (gasp!) real agenda came to light. Of course, being as nosy as I am, I had to look. And boy, that was some mad plot twist. Mad. I knew there was a reason why I liked Itachi.
Once upon a time, when the series wasn’t a punchline, Naruto was a regular event in my episodic blogging. Yes, people, I allotted 47 entries and more on the subject. Don’t judge. And during this epic journey, I had unabashed annoyance for His Emo’d One. Sadly, during my trip to Kishimoto-land, I only encountered Sasuke. Damn, the dude out-emo’d his past self. I mean, dude. Okay, he had issues. Killing his brother out of hatred and revenge, then later told, ‘Oops, Itachi’s not ‘that’ bad, after all. You made a boo-boo’.
Still.
The dude bothers me.
One Piece c.499
Normally, I’d wax poetic over OP. See, I view Oda-sensei’s world through rose-colored glasses. But another time, maybe. So far, the Straw Hat crew are setting up for another fight. Camie has been kidnapped, and Sanji’s blood starts to boil.
BTW, I want to play at Sabaody Park (sp?).
Bleach c.-102
Just when I thought Kubo had been slacking off, he unleashes a flashback arc. I’m all warm and happy once again. And young!Captain Urahara without his hat. The history of the Vassards. Shinji and his bad hair day. Boy, oh, boy.
With the way things are in Kubo-land, are we to assume that Bleach could end after the big clash in Karakura? I don’t frequent boards nowadays, but I hope I’m right.

Deadman Wonderland is the only manga I’ve ever loved so much, and second to that would be DN Angel, and then Naruto and then Bleach and then Doubt.

Hmm. I haven’t had the chance to give Deadman Wonderland a try. I’ll probably give it a go sometime. DN Angel is pretty good, I enjoyed both the anime and manga. I think the continuation is on the way.

Dude, you are overlooking the awesomeness that is Jewelry Bonney. Oda’s greatest female character since Hina the Black Cage. ^_^

The next time I just read a blog, I hope that it doesnt disappoint me personally as much as this one. I mean, Yes , it had been my personal choice to study, but I actually believed youd possess something interesting to express. All We listen to is a bunch of whimpering regarding something you might repair if you werent too busy searching for attention.
